Introduction: Welcome to the
Six Rivers Charter High School Writer's Portfolio Platform! In the summer of
2006, the English Department of SRCHS began developing what is now one of the
cornerstones of our English curriculum and an integral part of our school's
commitment to cross-curricular lessons and projects--The Writer's Portfolio.
Students begin developing writing skills as freshmen in order to prepare them
for English 2, or our version of Basic Composition. Sophomores write in several
genres and complete several essays--timed in-class and take home--and then
chose their best three to revise and submit to our Portfolio Board in April or
May.
Beginning the spring of
2013, students began submitting their portfolio's online by creating
their own website via the blogger platform. This year students have the option to use Google sites, or other similar online programs. This change will reduce paper, prepare
students for the 21st century, provide a place on the internet to save their
best work, and most importantly help them build and develop their writing
skills.
